Breaking: Progress Report & Challenges

We hear loudly, that the NBBF is on the verge of pulling out from the FIBA Afrochan tournament holding in Angola from the 8th to 16th of July and the U16 Male and Female junior championship holding in Tunisia from the 13th to 21th of July, 2023.

The U16 championship is to qualify the U16 to the World Cup for U17 holding in 2024.

If you can recall the President of the NBBF Engr. Musa Kida practically-single-handedly sourced funds for the two teams to the qualifiers of these tournament in Ghana and the men’s national team in Ivory Coast respectively, of which some of the supposed aggrieved board members are offended that they were not carried along and made part of the travelling delegation for the purpose of collecting estacode.

We understand that another call had gone out for all Board members to put all hands on deck, as it is the equitable practice to look for funds to allow the teams participate in the championships.

We hope these aggrieved Board members, led by the FIBA Zone 3 President – whose job on the NBBF Board is supposed to be advisory – will come up with some funding to assist the federation instead of trying to blackmail the NBBF President and other members; who up till this moment have stopped at nothing to make sure the hopes of these young players are not dashed on the altar of politicking by selfish members who would rather pay journalist to spin the narrative against a board in which they are also members.

In the coming days, we hope to learn what the NBBF will inform the public on these persons contributions (first time ever) and decisions taken concerning the participation of the teams in these championship.

It is unbelievable the way men behaves , NBBF cannot be rubbishing the names of men that faithfully stood with you during raining season in the dry season simply because you feel that you have arrived. The previous NBBF together sourced for funds and got money both from the ministry and public organisation to run its programme , unfortunately when funds came , the were all sidetracked from sharing however, if we had managed the funds prudently, NBBF would not have been in these ugly situations however the sycophants around the board are not helping matters. Name calling and blackmail will not lead this board to anywhere. Come down from your high horse and appease your people and see the level Basketball will attend.
